It’s budget-friendly and changes weekly, rotating between a traditional pork, chicken, beef or lamb roast with all the trimmings (garlic roasted potatoes, green beans, pumpkin, baby peas and red wine jus, with a Yorkie with every beef roast). Plus, there’s free face-painting from 1-4pm, and a lush, pet-friendly outdoor courtyard.

We’re starting off big. Chef Patrick Friesen serves Forrester’s traditional roast in a fluffy Yorkshire pudding the size of a dinner plate, ensuring you have enough to pick up every last drop of gravy. Folly’s is a relative newcomer to the roast circuit, having introduced the weekly special in April. The kitchen, helmed by Michelin-trained chef Antonio “Ace” Espiritu (ex-L’Oustau de Baumaniere, France), is serving a 12-hour slow-roasted beef brisket with roast potatoes, asparagus, Dutch baby carrots, Brussels sprouts with bacon jam, a Yorkshire pudding and red wine gravy. Walk-ins are welcome.

The weekly roast has returned to The Crix, just in time for winter. The roast meat special rotates weekly − perhaps beef rump cap or porchetta − but the trimmings remain the same: a Yorkshire pudding, duck-fat potatoes, vegetables, house-made horseradish cream and jus.
